An unemployed miner in Wałbrzych, Lower Silezia, turned to filmmaking for survival. But apart from recording baptisms, first communions, proms, and weddings, he has started to capture the world of poverty around him. Many of his unemployed friends continue quarrying illegally on the closed mines to provide for their families. "Everyone here is dying, but some are still fighting," says amateur filmmaker Roman Janiszek. It is these poverty-stricken people that he records with his camera. This is not a film, however, about human poverty, but about human passion. A deeply personal and apprehensive portrait of a young generation trapped by changing economic realities.
