15. Verzió guest Manon Barbeau received the UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-violence on the 16 November 2018, on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

The 15th Verzió had nearly 10,000 visitors! After the Budapest edition the festival continued in other cities, where visitors had the chance to watch a selection of the best human rights documentaries: in Pécs, 15–18 November, at the Apolló Cinema; in Kecskemét, 17–18 November, at the Otthon Cinema; and in Szeged, 22–25 November, in the Grand Café Cinema and Megálló.

Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov is this year’s winner of the European Parliament Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. 

Sentsov is a Ukrainian film director, sentenced to 20 years in prison for “plotting terrorist acts” against the Russian “de facto” rule in Crimea.
