Such Feeling
Aaa, Billy, Dawid, Filipka, and Olo perform, support each other, and protest, facing a hostile environment for queer people in Poland. Artist and choreographer Alex Baczyński-Jenkins accompanied them for a few years. Performances, protests, ordinary and ephemeral moments mix with conversations about happiness, sex, and dreams. The director sometimes documents, sometimes co-creates situations from within, that are intimate, playful, rebellious, and erotic. Such Feeling is a diary of everyday life. It includes the first time acting on a theater stage, as a performer in a porn film, and using new pronouns. Such Feeling is a film about queer life; a portrait of friends and a documentary about transformation, intimacy, and performance.
In his artistic practice, Alex Baczyński-Jenkins explores the structures and politics of desire through gesture, addressing the issues of queer feelings, corporeality and relationality. His works were presented, among others, at the Venice Biennale, Kunsthalle Basel, Foksal Gallery Foundation, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Chisenhale Gallery in London. The artist is also a co-founder of the queer-feminist collective Kem. In 2019, he was nominated for the Polityka Passport award.
