Deep Rising / Film+Discussion

While very little is known about the ecosystems of the deep ocean, or the consequences of deep-sea mining, a company is lobbying for financial support to extract massive amounts of metal from the ocean floor. Narrated by Jason Momoa, the film tells a tale of geopolitical, scientific, and corporate intrigue, and sheds light on the vital relationship between the deep ocean and the sustainability of life on Earth.

After the film, we talk to experts about who really owns the ocean floor and who benefits from it. What can communities and decision-makers do to stop the exploitation of the planet's resources? The discussion will also highlight the dilemmas of green energy and the green economy, of protecting our planet and the survival of humanity.

The discussion will be in Hungarian.
