Earth of the Blind
As film director Audrius Stonys puts it, “the film came into reality while trying to answer a question: how can one film the invisible?”. The film subtly interweaves moments of interaction between people, animals and their surroundings. Long shots, silence and meditative images interplay with music—opening the viewer to a haptic and philosophical realm beyond the visible. The film received the 1992 FELIX Award for Best European Documentary Film.
Audrius Stonys is a member of the European Documentary Network and the European Film Academy. His 1992 film Earth of the Blind received the European Film Academy Award for the Best European Documentary Film. His 2011 film Ramin was selected as the Lithuanian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards.
