Russian TV channel Dozhd began as an "optimistic," cultural-lifestyle television channel in 2010, then gradually became the only independent news channel in Russia. In March 2022, the Russian government terminated their broadcasting license due to their coverage of the invasion of Ukraine. Since then, Dozhd has relocated to Latvia. Looking at Russia, we may see the media future of Hungary. What functions do new media channels in Hungary serve, and how efficiently? To what extent is freedom of speech realized in and through these media?
