White Right: Meeting the Enemy

Deeyah Khan is an Emmy and Peabody award-winning documentary film director. In 2016, she became the first UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for artistic freedom and creativity. Her documentary, Banaz: A Love Story (2012), chronicles the life and death of a young, British Kurdish woman murdered by her family in a so-called honor killing. Khan's second film, Jihad, involved two years of filming with Islamic extremists, convicted terrorists and former jihadis. Khan has also produced a number of critically-acclaimed albums, including Listen to the Banned, a compilation that brought together musicians from around the world who have been subject to persecution, censorship and imprisonment.

Youth Unstoppable

Youngest ever Resident of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre Directors Lab, Slater Jewell-Kemker has been making films since she was six. An award-winning filmmaker and climate activist, Slater has been featured by Forbes twice: once for her ten year documentary feature on the rise of the global youth climate movement Youth Unstoppable, and another for her CFC short film Still which explores domestic violence and infatuation. Slater is also an accomplished speaker and frequently is invited to speak on film and climate change panels to represent the voice of youth, in addition to giving filmmaking workshops to teenagers.

Crime + Punishment

Stephen Maing is an Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker and visual journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. His filmmaking merges an interest in underrepresented individuals and communities, and the evolving considerations of identity, visual language and narrative structure. Stephen has directed films for the New York Times, Time Magazine, The Nation, The Intercept and Field of Vision. He is a fellow of the Sundance Institute's Documentary Film Program, and recipient of the International Documentary Association's inaugural Enterprise Investigative Journalism grant. He is an adjunct at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston where he teaches summer courses in documentary filmmaking.

Cold Case Hammarskjöld

Mads Brügger is a Danish journalist, television host, author and filmmaker. He has written several books, worked for magazines and newspapers, produced award-winning radio programs, and hosted the critically-acclaimed, late-night television show, The 11th Hour, as well as the daily news program, Deadline.

Andrius Lekavičius is a multimedia storyteller directing commercial and non-commercial audiovisual productions. His latest animated documentary, Delta Zoo, was screened in cinemas across Lithuania and at festivals around the world. Growing up in the 1990s, his creative focus is on this period of essential change.

Call Me Intern

Nathalie Berger applies her interest in art and politics to incite debate on social issues. She made a documentary about the impact of “voluntourism” on local communities in Kenya, and initiated a human rights art collective in Geneva. She was a content creator for the Solar Impulse project, and produced videos for the world's first solar plane.

Leo David Hyde is an activist, filmmaker and editor from New Zealand. He has worked on a variety of projects, including social media campaigns for NGOs and political activism, through Collective Bievre. He recently completed work on a 12-part documentary series for Public Services International, which examines the achievements and challanges of public service workers across the world.

Breathless

Daniel Lambo is a filmmaker from Belgium. He started his career as a writer for theater, television and cinema. As a director, Lambo shifted his attention towards social themes. His renewed approach to filmmaking—both intuitive and socially engaged—inspired him to start his own production company, Lambo Films.

Bellingcat - Truth in a Post-Truth World

Hans Pool is a Dutch director and cinematographer who creates films with a journalistic approach. He studied Dutch Language and Literature at the University of Amsterdam, and later specialized in Camera and Directing in the Audiovisual Design Department of the Royal Academy, Den Hague. His films often include the topic of journalism and the impact of media, and tackle political questions.

Earth

Nicolaus Geyrhalter is a director, cinematographer, scriptwriter and producer. At the age of 22, he formed his own production company, Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion (NGF), which has since produced many award-winning documentaries, fiction features, and series for TV and cinema. Geyrhalter's films have been screened at the New York Museum of Modern Art's Doc Fortnight, and at multiple festivals worldwide.
