Yulia Lokshina 1986-ban született Moszkvában, majd Németországba költözött nem sokkal az ezredforduló előtt. Kulturális és nyelvi tanulmányaival számtalan színházi és filmes munkálaton vett részt, illetve a rövidfilmes fesztivál, a CrankCookie kuráturaként dolgozott. 2011-ben készítette el az első dokumentumfilmjét, At Home címmel. A film az Izraelbe kivándorolt poszt-szovjet immigránsokról szól. Ugyanebben az évben kezdte el egyetemi tanulmányait dokumentumfilm rendezés szakon az University for Television and Film Munich-nél. A Heinrich Boell Alapítványnál ösztöndíjas tanulmányokat folytat médiaprogram szakterületen.

Lenin zuhanása

Svitlana Shymko egy független filmrendező Ukrajnából. A DocNomads nemzetközi MA program keretében diplomázott dokumentumfilm-készítésből. Rövidfilmjei számtalan nemzetközi filmfesztiválon bemutatkoztak, és díjakat nyertek. Svitlana politikai, társadalmi és feminista kérdéskörökkel foglalkozik a dokumentumfilm-készítés segítségével.

Hosszútávfutók

Daniel Andreas Sager Berlinben született 1985-ben, és Moszkvában nőtt fel. Szociálantropológiát és filozófiát tanult a Lipcsei Egyetemen, melyet rendezői tanulmányok követtek Baden-Württembergben. Ösztöndíjjal egy évig az UCINE filmes iskolában, Buenos Airesben tanult, részt vett továbbá a Docu-Village forgatókönyvírói mesterkurzuson a Haifa Filmfesztiválon Izraelben, a Baden-Württembergi Filmakadémia ösztöndíjával. Diplomunkája, a The Long Distance című film NOFEAR! Díjat kapott 2015-ben. Jelenleg a Babelsberg Konrad Wolf filmes egyetem PhD hallgatója, és Nipkow-ösztöndíjas. Szerkesztőként és íróként dolgozik a ze.tt (zeit online) számára, valamint szabadúszó íróként, rendezőként, újságíróként és operatőrként tevékenykedik. Berlinben él.

Forever Pure

Maya Zinshtein is an award-winning Israeli filmmaker and journalist. She emigrated from Russia as a child and now lives in Tel Aviv. She holds a BA in Cinema and French studies and an MA in Security and Diplomacy, both from Tel Aviv University. She directed and produced the award-winning feature-length documentary Forever Pure about the Beitar Jerusalem F.C and also produced numerous other documentaries, including Thieves by Law (by Alexander Gentelev, ARTE/ZDF), the inside story of Russian Mafia. Zinshtein’s background is in investigative journalism. Working for the prestigious Israeli paper Haaretz, she covered many of the ills of Israeli society and directed investigative stories for television channels.

Alexander Kvatashidze was born in 1977 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1996 he graduated from Nikoladze Art College with a qualification as a sculptor. In 2001 he earned his BA degree in Art and Humanities at Tbilisi State University. In 2005-2006, Kvatashidze studied at the film department of California State University in San Jose. Since 2006 Alexander has worked as a director, DoP or producer on various projects, most of which were documentaries. He founded Lokokina Studio in 2009.

Tarzan's Testicles

Alexandru Solomon emerged as a young director of photography in the early 1990s. Along with filming feature films, he started making documentaries. Solomon was among the first Romanian filmmakers who committed themselves to what was then a compromised genre. Today, he is one of the leading political filmmakers coming out of Romania, and is also active on the international scene.

Solomon's previous works, The Great Communist Bank Robbery, Cold Waves and Kapitalism: Our Secret Recipe, are chilling slices of political history that deal with propaganda, corruption and manipulation. Tarzan’s Testicles premiered in 2017. Alexandru teaches at the Arts University in Bucharest, and is the director of One World Romania Festival.

The Trial

Born in Uzbekistan, Askold Kurov has lived in Russia since 1991. He earned a degree in documentary filmmaking at Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov’s School of Documentary Film and Theater in Moscow. His films Winter, Go Away!, Leninland and Children 404 won critical acclaim and were screened at numerous festivals. His work focuses on human rights and social conflict in contemporary Russia.

Days of Youth

Yulia Lokshina was born in Moscow in 1986, and moved to Germany in her early teens. Along with culture and language studies, Lokshina has worked on various theatre and film projects, and curated a short film festival “CrankCookie”. In 2011 she shot her first documentary, At Home, on post-soviet immigrants in Israel. She began her studies of documentary directing at the University for Television and Film in Munich in 2011, and was awarded a media program scholarship by the Heinrich Boell Foundation.

The Fall of Lenin

Svitlana Shymko is an independent director from Ukraine, and a graduate of the DocNomads international MA program in documentary film directing. Her short films have been shown and received awards at numerous international film festivals. Shymko is working on developing political, social, and feminist topics in documentary cinema.
