The first in Tamás Almási's series of documentaries shot in Ózd, the film follows the fate of the Metallurgical Works, a stronghold of the Hungarian working class during socialist industrialization. As Hungary strove to become a land of iron and steel, the factory was used as an example for the rest of the country. But by the late 1980s, the factory faced economic challenges and workers were increasingly laid off or made redundant. The film follows the fate of a factory manager and three workers, exposing poignant human dramas, posing never-before asked questions, and evoking deep emotions about ongoing changes.
