Ilham Tohti, an Uyghur economist fighting for the rights of China’s Uyghur minority, is the winner of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 2019.
Verzió is one of the most established film festivals in Hungary, hosting over 150 screenings per year for over 12,000 people. The 16th Verzió will take place this year from November 12-17 in Budapest and November 21-24 in Szeged, Pécs, Kecskemét, Debrecen and Szombathely. Festival guests include filmmakers, producers, DoPs, human rights activists, and film protagonists. They participate in Q&As, hold masterclasses and workshops or are invited as Jury members.
What happens when two bubbles collide? Following the main concept of Bánkitó Festival 2019, Verzió joined forces with Pázmány KineDok film club to organize a screening series where diverse identity problems will be thoroughly discussed and all kinds of bubbles shall be discovered.
We count on the audience's active participation, since we turn from classic discussion format to a more playful method of analysis of both the documentary genre and the topics presented, hoping that we can share with each other how we see the bubbles of others and our own, from the inside.
’Vektor’ is Hungary’s first artistic and documentary VR-section, organized by Random Error Studio and Zip-Scene Conference. It will take place 13–16 November, in the frame of the 16th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, where both international media professionals and local creators can be found.
