CEU Rooftop Cinema: watch documentary films on the rooftop

A Roma family history investigation; a glimpse into the life of a mysterious, almost forgotten Jewish community in India; the friendship of a Buddhist and a Muslim midwife in Myanmar; coming-of-age stories of teenagers and their struggles with education, love, community and identity in Budapest, San Francisco and Transnistria: you can watch six unique documentary films on the rooftop of the CEU this summer, between 22 June and 24 August.

Initiated by DOK.fest München in 2020, the new network Doc Around Europe (formerly: FestDocsEurope) brings together five relevant documentary film festivals throughout the continent. Together with partner festivals – FIPADOC, Dokfest München, DocsBarcelona and MakeDox – Verzió works on activities dedicated to emerging talents in documentary film.

From April 20-22, 2023, Verzió, in cooperation with Belvedere 21, Open Society University Network (OSUN) and Central European University, will present highlights from the latest Verzió Film Festival in Budapest in Vienna. 

Verzió Vienna features seven powerful documentaries and several masterclasses. An additional outreach event, the “alternative posters” exhibition, will highlight creative works by graphic design students from Budapest Metropolitan University.

Submissions to the International Competition, the Student and Debut Film Competition and the Hungarian Competition of the 20th Verzió IHRDFF are now closed. Thank you for all your submitted works! All applicants will be notified of the results by the end of September 2023. 

You can still submit your VR productions to the Vektor VR 2023 program until 28 August, 2023.
