Budapest Silo
József has worked at the largest, still-operational grain silo in Budapest for more than 30 years. He lives in a container home next to the structure, and trucks and trains often rumble past his window. Lowered into the ten-story-deep silos to clean them, he looks like a scuba diver. It’s dangerous and potentially deadly work, especially considering József’s decades-long exposure to crop dust. But rather than escape, it seems as if he has become an integral part of his environment.
