Twelve of the films screened at the 18th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival will be available to watch online, at the festival website, from 14 February until 27 March, thanks to Re:Verzió. This selection features one Oscar-nominated film, the winners of the 18th Verzió, and the most popular works that premiered last year. The Re:Verzió films can also be viewed at live screenings at the Apolló Cinema in Pécs, and at the Megálló Community Center in Szeged.

Submissions are now being accepted for this year’s Verzió Film Festival

The 19th Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival will be held 8–16 November 2022, in art cinemas in Budapest and in cities across Hungary. Applicants can submit their documentary films until 31 May 2022. The films should address the latest human rights and social issues, and fall into one of three categories: International, Student & Debut Film, or the Hungarian Competition. Submissions can be entered free of charge.

Verzió International Human Rights Film Festival (Budapest, Hungary), Fipadoc International Documentary Film Festival (Biarritz, France) and Biografilm festival (Bologna, Italy) are launching a new network, Places to B – Biarritz, Bologna, Budapest. The three festivals, all with female leadership, share an interest in contemporary European creative documentary films and are committed to managing their activities transparently, and in supporting each other in producing sustainable and diverse international film festival events.

The audience could vote for the films between 11 and 14 November in Toldi, Művész and Kino cinemas. The winner of the Audience Award of the 18th Verzió is Divas by Máté Kőrösi. 

Among the highest voted films are Courage (Aliaksey Paluyan, Germany, 2021), This Cannot Be Atoned For (László Halász, Hungary, 2021), A Thousand Girls Like Me (Sahra Mani, Afghanistan, France, 2018) and My Digital Nomad (Kata Oláh, Hungary, 2021).

This year's award winners were announced at the Award Ceremony on 13 November 2021 in Toldi cinema.

Following Tuesday’s opening ceremony, the 18th VERZIÓ International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, this year both in cinemas and online, was launched by director Dénes Nagy. Festival director Oksana Sarkisova and deputy-mayor Erzsébet Gy. Németh also gave welcoming speeches. All the films and programs are available in cinemas, 10–14 November, as well as online, 15–22 November
